WHO data suggests that the percentage of Low Birth Weight babies in India has remained unchanged at 30% from the year 1984 to 2007 in spite of the fact India progressed a lot during this period. If so, it may take a few generations to narrow down the backlog. Diverse opinions would be welcome.
