Maximum crack length and cooling rate measurements are required to calculate the BTR from the transverse-varestraint test.

In previous studies, it is stated that the weld pool should be measured by inserting a thermo-couple.

However, there is also the opinion that the cooling rate of the middle part of the weld bead should be measured rather than the cooling rate of the crack part(weld pool) because the crack occurs momentarily in the test.

The cooling rate varies greatly depending on the measuring part, and the BTR result also shows a large difference.

What do you think about this problem?

What is the reason why other opinions are not valid?
