The articles published in these journals will give you an indication of the state of the field.

There are also some journals on post Soviet and post Communist studies, as well as New Eastern Europe that pay a lot of attention to this topic.  With relations the way they are now, it is fair to say that the subject has seen increased prominence over the last 15 months.  

Google Cold War International History Project at the Woodrow Wilson Center, then look under Publications. The newsletter has autobiographical updates from time to time.
