You can download land use land cover data in free from this site.

www.earthexplorer.usgs.gov

You can check global land cover in ESRI or MODIS. Create account and perhaps download.

Thanks for your help Sajjad and Ibrahim, but I am looking for the specific datasets that were available in the Global Land Cover Facility, not for any global land cover map in general.

What do u mean facility. Land cover itself is termed as facility not utility. However, all LC map are denoting facility around the world. Check that first and confirm. Thank you David and good luck.

Hi Ibrahim. The "Global Land Cover facility" was a portal mantained by the University of Maryland, with the support of different organisms and projects, that hosted relevant LUC data, which I can no longer find. When saying facility I am alluding to the name of the website or initiative.

You can download land use land cover data freely from MODIS website with 500 m resolution

Hi David

If resolution is not an issue for you, check out the MCD12Q1 landcover data product. Its at 500m resolution and freely available at https://lpdaac.usgs.gov/products/mcd12q1v006/ . You can chose several options for downloading the data under the 'ACCESS DATA' tab.
