I apologize in case my question is not appropriate for this space. But, I am taking my doctorate in Brazil and if I have a chance to take some months abroad, I will need to have a US host Institution and a Professor to accept me as a student. The theory I am using in my dissertation is the Systemic Functional Linguistic, that is why I am asking if you could direct me to researchers in this area.

If I were you, I'd START with this Wikipedia account to know what SFL is and the main figures in this field - along with their affiliations/institutions:

Second, I'd locate seminal publications in this area (i.e. books, articles, chapters, research studies, etc.) and see who authored them. If the author is based on a US university, I'll search for his/her academic profile (official online page), review his/her research interests, and contact him/her..See these publications as EXAMPLES:
