I have to run WRF model by using ECMWF forecast data. I have downloaded surface and upper air data separately and combined these two files by CDO. When i use Vtable.ECMWF while ungribbing this data it is not taking. It is giving error in Vtable. Can any one please help me to solve this problem. Which Vtable do i need to use here..?
Prakash, use the Vtable.ECMWF.
You can find it under ungrib/Variable_Tables/Vtable.ECMWF or You can google it.
Do not use CDO to combine data. It will change the format it used to be, which WPS can not read them. I prefer to download upper layers' data by pressure level other than sigma or model level. If you download from http://apps.ecmwf.int/datasets/data/interim-full-daily/levtype=sfc/, you may need to use Vtable.ECMWF; If you download from http://rda.ucar.edu/datasets/ds627.0/index.html#!cgi-bin/datasets/getWebList?dsnum=627.0&gindex=6, you may need to use Vtable.ERA-interim.pl. In case you are not familiar with how to process pressure level and surface data separately,you may follow the way NNRP http://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/OnLineTutorial/DATA/NNRP/index.html. Good luck!
