Oh thanks Frank T. Edelmann for your response and suggestion. Actually the LC/MS service is scarce around here in Nigeria, I have been asking around for quite a while without success. What is common around here is the GC-MS and i dont it is very suitable for polyphenol/flavonoid analysis from aqueous or ethanolic extracts. I will give another attempt at the SGS lab and see if they actually perform the service.

Hello Mr Umeoguaju, you can get an LC-MS at ABU Zaria general laboratory.

I did mine there though i was told the retention time is too small but try them you may get a good result with your extract.

You may determine the total phenolic content or total flavenoidal content of your methanolic extract. Take a known amount of the plant dried powder say 100 g then extracted by methanol then identfy the TFC and TPC according to stander as rutin or galic acid . If you need to spacify the type of flavenoid in your plant you may use LC- MS-MS high reslution.
