I am looking for a source of amorphous iron foil. Only a small piece is needed (approx. 2 x 2 cm), but it must be completely x-ray amorphous. Those with experience in maintaining x-ray powder diffractometers know what I am talking about - these foils are used to create a homogeneous intensity from fluorescence.

to my knowledge, amorphous metals made of one single element do not exist, as the mobility of the atoms is too high down even at low temperatures and they crystallize. Hence, metallic glasses consist of at least two constituents.

@Christoph: As far as I know it can be anything. As they are not used for quantitative analysis, any amount for foreign atoms is possible, as long, as the iron content remains high enough.

They have an extensive array of Fe foils of various specifications. I have bought Fe foil from them in the past for my Mossbauer spectroscopy work and I found their product very reliable.
