I understand it depends on the level of similarity or the cutoff set during the analysis.
It does not necessarily belong to that species, but taxonomically it lies closer to the species. I understand I will lose some information; But, can I add the relative abundance of the OTUs belonging to the same species and categorize them under that genus?
The purpose is I am doing a literature review and making reports.
Or is there any other way to calculate the relative abundance of those closely categorize OTUs?
It is not my original research, So I cant analyze the OTUs differently.
If you read the tutorial, you would understand it. There is nothing to be more specific about it.
You need to understand the basics of data analysis before starting any analysis in haphazard manner.
In most practical situations, yes - you can group them under the same genus, just as you mentioned.
