Charge effect or different compositions are all possible. I suggest you'd better conduct an EDX meanwhile when you meet this phenomenon next time.

I do not see any charging. Particles are bright because their atomic number is higher (image was acquired with BSE detector). For me it looks like some metal or ceramic particles in organic matrices. Of course EDS should help, but anyway, these particles are not nanoparticles.
