Imagine that we filled part of that low-pressure system with a white and back color resembling a chess board (grid) structure to study the deformation of the fluid as depicted in a-e panels. Can we judge if this deformation of the surface elements is reversible or not? I am not really sure how to define the deformation of the material contour. Also, could a series of linear transformations (e.g., translation, rotation, stretching, etc.) lead to an irreversible structure? Thanks
