What's the mechanism behind decreased mRNA expression and increased protein expression?

By immunohistochemistry, we are getting an increased expression of various proteins but the mRNA expression of the genes coding for these proteins is showing an opposite pattern. Can anyone suggest the probable reasons for such an observation?

What are you varying? Transcriptional and translation get regulated by sequences at promoter and RBS respectively. CHanges in promoter and RBS can lead to a scenario where mRNA level goes down but translational level increases.
