I don't understand when reducing the thickness of CdS layer the efficiency solar cell increased or decreased? experimentally I see is decreased but some searcher using the simulation of solar cell her efficiency of the cell increased with reducing the thickness of CdS film,what's the exact result. Other question, CdS is a window layer or a buffer layer? Thanks in advance.
The band gap of CdS varies with thickness of the thin film, may be this effect can afect the efficiency. As CdS is a window layer, if the bandgap increases, photons with larger energy can pass to the p/n junction and, in theory, the efficency must be increased; however, if the thickness is very small there is not effective enought space (mean free path) to be absorved.
The optimal thickness would be calculated by first principle calculations (I guess).

Currently, I study the simulation of the thin film solar cell, and in software to get the influence of CdS layer thickness in the performance cell, we varied just the thickness
