What's the difference between light absorption and coupling in plasmonic metals? It seems that light absorbed in metal nanostructure/nanoparticles doesn't contribute to enhancement in electric field, its rather the light that couples with metal that contributes to strong electric field.
As I think that plasmonic coupling can be used to generate Localized Surface Plasmon Resonances (LSPRs) in transition metal dimeric nano-antennas and we can take advantage of the plasmonic coupling to enhance LSPRs over a broad spectral range for many transition metals
In my understanding coupling and absorption are intrinsically linked in plasmonics. Also, keep in mind that absorption scales with the square of the electric field strength.
