Could anyone please tell me the CAS number of the reagent R(OCH2CH2)7O(CH2)3SO3-K+ (R: C13-C15 alkyl chain) or tell me where I can purchase this reagent? Thanks in advence.
treating 1 g of the chloride analogue with 15 mL of a 10% w/v solution of R(OCH2CH2)7O(CH2)3SO3 -K+ (R: C13-C15 alkyl chain, Aldrich) in water at 70 °C for 24 h. The solvent was discarded and the material was washed several times with water and dried at 70 °C.
Although this compound was used many times in patents, It was a difficult mission to find the company makes it.
Poly(ethylene glycol) n-alkyl 3-sulfopropyl ether potassium salt, also known as Ralufon F 11-13, CAS Number 119481-71-9. Sigma Aldrich no longer sells this product, but you can get it from BOC Sciences: http://www.bocsci.com/description.asp?cas=119481-71-9&cid=1
The compound listed by BOC sciences is the Polyethyleneglycol(7 EO) Alkyl 3-Sulfopropyl) diether, Potassium salt is CAS #119481-71-9 as per Scifinder. BOC sciences web site incorrectly shows this is RALUFON F 11-13, (which would be CAS #448209-75-4) ; I was only incorrect about the RALUFON designation!
The link you gave above is incorrect, but the CAS mumber and name of the product you gave is correct, am I right? Could you please tell me where I can buy the reagent I want?
As per Scifinder, BOC Sciences sells Polyethyleneglycol(7 EO) Alkyl 3-Sulfopropyl) diether, Potassium salt which is CAS #119481-71-9 this is apparently the compound you are looking for. The BOC sciences catalog number is the same as the CAS number (What a great idea!), You have to fill out a form on their website to get a price quote from them. I have purchased numerous chemicals from BOC Sciences over the past 10 years, some in bulk quantities, and find them to be a reputable company to deal with.
