I would recommend you to go through with the surface receptors and especially glucose transporters like SLC2A2 to achieve liver specificity. As its nature liver has higher expression of these transporters compare to other tissues. You might wanna check the articles about the glycocapture analysis performed in liver tissue.

In case of cancer and other pathologies you are right. Expression levels of these might get change. Maybe this time you can functionalized the NPs with 2 different Ab. I would also suggest ferritin too.

thank you for your answers, sorry for my late message.

However, I find some gaps in whole idea. I wouldn't come up with this, because I'm not biotechnologist and maybe I'm wrong, but... The point is, I'm going to use 50 nm spherical AuNPs. And my biggest concern is size of particle after binding SLC2A2, you mentioned Yunus Akkoç . Because this transporter is huge itself and with nanoparticles 50 nm in diameter, I'm not sure, if cell can handle it? Second thing is synthesis of such NPs... You thought about binding something to NPs like glutathione and then SLC2A2 to it? Or surrounding NPs with SLC2A2 somehow?

When it comes to ferritin, I'm concerned too. Maybe not by size or synthesis, because I found out, that you can actually put NPs inside of ferritin. But people have some limited ferritin blood level, right? Wouldn't it disturb electrolytic balance if I add more ferritin with AuNPs?

Would you recommend target AuNPs to healthy liver cells or to cancer cells then? Or by 2 different antibodies you mean functionalising it for either of them? Because I'm wondering about order of whole experiment. I want to avoid as many incidental effects as possible. That's why I'm not sure, if I want to inject NPs and then trigger cancer or inject 2 different NPs to liver already with cancer.
