I have submitted two of my manuscripts in Wireless Personal Communication and it's been five months since the date of submission that I didn't receive any review outcome i.e. acceptance or rejection.
Can anyone please highlight what could be reason beyond such delay? Should I wait for the outcome or withdraw and submit in another journal? or Such review delays are commonplace for SCI-indexed journals?
I have one there since one year without any response (5 months under Editor assigned and 7 months under review).

I have submitted paper last July (2017.) and first answer I have received in October 2017 (needs minor revisions). Reviewed paper I have submitted at 17th November, and today (10th May) I have received answer that paper is accepted. Hope this helps! I wish you same answer :)
I had submitted the manuscript in April 2017 and got it accepted in May 2018.

I had status editor assigned for 2nd round from November 2017 till May 2018. From that status paper was accepted.
I submitted my paper on 18 dec 2017 and its august 2018 now but no update. The status is still "editor Assigned".
To be very honest, it totally depends on .. "how much reviewers are actually interested in your area,". If your area of research is quite old, then it is almost impossible that your manuscript get much attention from the reviewers. However, if get attended, then it could be the possibility that the reviewers get much more time for reviewing your manuscript. "BELIEVE ME.. I have submitted my manuscript to a renowned journal (XXXX) on 12 March 2014 and after around 2 years (11 February 2016)", my manuscript is sent back to me and the result is OUT oF SCOPE... "Its quite frustrating", the work gets old and almost of no use. So the thing is... "Submit your manuscript".. and forget it....:)
I submitted my manuscript in December, 2017. The status updated to "Reviews Complete" in November, 2018 but no decision yet. In my experience I didn't wait this long time for decision from any of the journals.
I strongly encourage you not to submit to this Journal, i submitted a paper on 1 Oct 2017 and now it is still under revision (March 2019). Unacceptable !!!!
Ahmed Abdou Dont know what's the policy of this Journal. In the past, we have submitted some of the papers related to wireless communication. But, the journal rejects the papers straightaway by reason Out Of Scope. Now I am observing that the journal continuously publishing the Image Processing related Articles. Strange...!!
I am really confused about their policy. I submitted my paper by Dec,2017. Nov, 2018 the status changed from Editor assigned to review results received. Got the decision "Minor Review" by the end of January,2019. Final decision didn't come out yet. Literally It's been 1 and half years of my submission of paper without final decision.
I submitted a manuscript on Dec 2016 within 10 days it went to editor assigned and then reviewers assigned and then under review subsequently within a month and at the end of three months i got acceptance with minor revision as decision. I submitted revised manuscript on April first week 2017 and on April 17 I got a result as accepted (Final decision). So within 4.5 months My paper got accepted. Based on my experience Its good journal only so please go ahead with submission in Springer WPC and cite more references... Try to give more reviewers list while manuscript submission (Since finding reviewers in the concerned area of specialization is very very challenging job...Authors take initiative to provide at least 10 reviewers in your field of research so that the review time may reduced to 4 months from submission to final decision)... Assigning the reviewers is taken care by EIC and it is non-disclosure and the reviewers you referred may be utilized for similar articles submitted by others ....So the assigning the reviewers task may be simplified...

I submitted two papers in it. One took 8 months for the first review. Second one I submitted in Dec 2018. Now, it is still in under review. It takes averagely 7 to 8 months.
