I have manuscripts in pending which I intend to submit in conferences like IEEE WCNC'16 and IEEE ICC'16. I am not clear about the differences in workshop paper and regular paper. Which of the two paper categories is easier to get an article accepted?
Workshops are generally easier to get your paper accepted, and thus considered a less attractive venue for recognition. However, in top tier conferences (where paper acceptance is difficult), workshops are correspondingly more recognized.
So a simple answer is a paper at a workshop of a top conference is preferable to a paper at a medium conference.
Regular paper is generally weighted more than a workshop paper of the same group. For example if we have a conference Asia Pacific Microwave Conference, according to their program they have regular oral sessions and also workshop sessions. In this case, regular papers have more weight.
