We increase amount of coal dust in mixture of sand molding in order to reduce ferrite formation on surface of the grey cast iron. In for example (x) kg mixture of sand we added about 10 kg coal dust in mixture of and and for other sample we added about 80 kg coal dust in mixture of sand. All of the parameters were controlled and were produced in the same condition for both of samples. We were expected by increasing coal dust, the amount of ferrite be reduced but the results showed that the ferrite on the surface was more in the sample that added 80 kg coal dust then 10 kg of that. In the point of theory it have been expected that by increasing of the coal dust, reduces amount of ferrite because the coal dust can provide carbon to the surface and it can be prevent formation ferrite on the surface. What do you think happened?
