I am preparing porous Carbon using some porogen.....After calcination, I need to remove the porogen by using HCL( 2M usually) but the thing is what procedure should I use either sonication or stirring? can the pores of carbon be affected based on our procedure to remove the porogen? Stirring with ultrasound can destroy porous material. If you are using HCl, then this is a neutralization reaction that does not require sonication. That's why I recommend ultrasound.

I tried both ways and I cannot find any difference later by BET analysis as both the surface area and BJH pore size distribution are the nearly same but surprisingly in our reaction, there should be an increase in the formate concentration with respect to an increase in molar concentration of our basic solution but surprisingly in case of stirring its decreasing but Pore size distribution is the same... Does there any decrease in the particle's pore in the stirring and that's why maybe its decreases in case of stirring?
can I get some logic behind that? Thanks in advance

The BET analysis should be trusted. However, in parallel, you have a reaction. You do not write by what reaction formate (porogen?) is obtained. Perhaps it all depends on the reaction mechanism and the catalyst.

we are basically doing the Co2 hydrogenation by direct synthesis procedure in which amine concentration usually affects our formate productivity as it has a direct relation with it.

As I expected, you have a complex reaction involving catalysts, porous catalyst supports, and stirring. It consists of several stages. One of the steps may be more effective than the other step. It is necessary to study the reaction mechanism depending on mixing.
I think the differece in your reaction results might originate from the real environment of metal-complex. The only obtained reuslts based on BET cannot tell you the real world of your metal/metal-complex. At the same time, if there is something different in your materials, before BET test, the degass procedure will remove the difference.(I guess some air bubble block in your cabrons when use stirring). By the way, if you use NaHCO3 or CO3 as porogen. During the sonication, the air in porous carbon (normally in the pores) will be removed, thereby the metal/metal complex can be introduced when you use it to do the impreganation. But if you just use strring, the air maightt still remain. And impreganation process cannot help the metal ions into the pores.
