I recently was trying to build a multiple regression model with 8 independent variables and one dependent variable. I plotted a correlation matrix and also checked each variable for variable inflation. Two of my predictors had a high positive correlation (0.98) but a low VIF (1.034). I am unsure of which test to follow through with. Would it be a good idea to use all predictors in the model since VIF is within acceptable range?
