The first step is to identify the extent of DNA damage using any standard method. The best way is comet assay which can be carried out from frozen tissues. This is followed by the measurement of oxidative DNA damage using FPG or Edonuclease IIII modified comet assay to detect oxidative DNA strand breaks. Moreover, you can further confirm these results using 8-OHdG ELIZA kit.
