In your opinion, what will be the attitude of human to the natural resources management (environment, water resources, soil resources, etc.) after the COVID-19 era?
Global problems, global crises inspire people to change their thinking in an ecological direction and mobilize communities for pro-ecological activities and reforms aimed at increasing the scale of environmental protection, reclamation of the degraded environment of natural ecosystems, etc. The largest global crises, including pandemic, economic and social crises etc. forced them to reflect on the role and meaning of man in nature. The development of civilization caused an imbalance in natural ecosystems. The number of species of flora and fauna decreases rapidly from year to year. Biodiversity of biological ecosystems is reduced. Adverse effects of climate change in the form of drought, floods and others are becoming more frequent. The most forest fires occurred in 2019. Since the end of the 19th century, the average temperature at the Earth's surface has been gradually rising. Environmental pollution is rising. In recent years, there has been a particularly rapid increase in plastic pollution. Many results of research in the field of climatology and ecology confirm the accelerating greenhouse gas emissions in recent years, which is causing the faster and faster global warming process. With each collection year, there are more and more examples on the growing scale of imbalances in nature caused by the development of human civilization. In view of the above, human responsibility for the state of nature on planet Earth is very high. Biodiversity of natural ecosystems has been created for millions of years in nature and now it is up to humans to decide what will happen in the future with the issue of biodiversity. Therefore, man should take care to preserve the current state of natural biodiversity to the greatest extent and to restore biodiversity in industrially degraded places. Currently, due to the development of the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus pandemic causing Covid-19 disease, industrial production has fallen significantly in many places around the world due to falling demand and home quarantine. Consequently, environmental pollution has decreased in these regions of the world and greenhouse gas emissions have decreased. Perhaps the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus epidemic will increase the significance and discussion on the protection of natural biodiversity, maintaining balance in nature, nature protection and the need to implement sustainable development principles to limit and slow down adverse climate change processes. In order to slow down the global warming process, which is increasing faster and faster, it is necessary to reduce all or most of the greenhouse gas emissions as soon as possible, reform the energy sector through the development of renewable energy sources and carry out other pro-ecological reforms to implement the principles of sustainable pro-ecological development implemented in accordance with the concept of green economy / circular economy. In addition, activities in the field of nature protection, protection of natural biological ecosystems, protection of terrestrial biodiversity and its preservation for future generations should be intensified. Therefore, the current global socio-economic crisis caused by the development of the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus pandemic (causing Covid-19 disease) should significantly change the pro-ecological awareness of people and the need to implement sustainable development in economic processes and everyday people's functioning. In connection with the above, maybe the global sustainable development policy will be strengthened. Occurring epidemics of this type remind us of how small he is against the forces and laws of nature. Perhaps the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic causing Covid-19 disease will also force a person to consider this issue.
It should be more strict and more protective. But As most of the countries losing their economy. I think they will employed the natural resources more.
In the past COVID - 19 era, people globally will have renewed thinking towards the management of natural resources. Remedition of natural resources and defensive fight towards enhancing the natural resources will be upheld.
As for the environment, the tendencies will be skewed towards less pollution as signals during the Covid-19 have confirmed that humans are responsible for air pollution. For water resources, they will value them more to maintain hygiene and sanitation practices in the long term. For soil resources, the need to sustain agricultural practices which are the backbone of most economies and the high demand for food will make them value such resources more
Thanks for your answer. You have mentioned to different aspects of Natural Resource Management after Covid-19. As most of the countries losing their economy during these pandemic condition, I think for the first step most of the countries who their economic system are based on natural resource and agriculture activities they will try to have more productions and more money (By more deforestation and extending agricultural lands). As a consequence they will face soil erosion and floods for years in watersheds area. In other side, i think we will have more responsible communities to environment. But that will be an struggle between feeling (community responsibility) and economical development (Political view). In developed countries who the political leaders most of the times are in a someway with communities we have less degradation on natural ecosystems. But in non-developed or ongoing development countries the story will be different. They will scarify natural resources for economical conditions and they forgot SUSTAINABILITY DEVELOPMENT.
Many developing countries which suffers declining economy will need to re-bounce their economy back after covid 19. However, as the competing market available for any commodities and productions arriving from these developing countries are stiffer, the simplest options for these countries are lowering commodity prices and alternate market for other developing countries demand. How this implicate natural resource management are varies depending on their size of populations and the productions method of extracting natural resources. For those developing countries which able to use efficient technology and logistics, they may considerably preserve and explore natural resources astutely. But for those countries which may not able to conduct sustainable natural resource management, the impacts are indefinite. Globally, human both in developed and developing countries are competing the same natural resources and how the damage people will experiences.
In my opinion people have now realised that natural resource management could be rebooted/gained to greater extent following ecofriendly activities as proven by lockdown.........
1. Most of the community shift their attention to the protection of the COVID19.
2. Environments are polluted by the used face masks and other wastes which will contaminate the water resource and the soil surfaces further
3. Most field workers are stayed at home and the grass land and communal lands are faced to open grazing.
4. Natural resource management Researchers could not collect the data at the right time
5. Campaign works could not be applied especially in nursery sites; plantation, forest management; excavation of water harvesting works
So the natural resources are more affected by this pandemic and the users and the managers will put the possible efforts for the management of the natural resources through protecting them selves from the pandemic (by using protective masks and avoiding the used mask in proper way and by keeping their social distance)
Dear Saleh Yousefi , we should learn how the lockdown renewed the natural resources to some extent. The Govt. and we all must come together to preserve the renewed natural resources and make an effort for a better future.
Our priority should be on the preservation and conservation of soil/land and environmental resources in relation to each ecological zone. The focus should be on the development of those resources in our environment based on comparative advantage. In view of what has happened globally and Africa in particular, we should focus seriously on development of our local resources using local content with sound and vigorous research instead of depending on mono economy through crude oil exploration without alternative source(s) of income/IGR/GDP. Our emphasis in Africa now is to develop large scale agriculture with full sense of environmental conservation to avoid future economic recession.
