I strongly suggest to refrain from mixing liquid ammonia and iodine! Chances are, that in the end highly explosive nitrogen triiodide, NI3, or some of its adducts with ammonia are formed. Nitrogen triiodide is extremely explosive and detonates upon the slightest touch as shown in this video clip:
