What will happen if a clamp-on current probe/transformer works always under saturated state?
Except affecting the measurement results of current probe/transformer, is there any other negative effects, e.g. reducing its life span?
CT core becoming saturated is also known as maximum flux density. This means there is no current on the secondary winding.
If you are relying on this current to drive circuitry, it means misoperation.
However there is no serious long term consequences as long as you apply a suitable burden resistance to the secondary...

Thank you for your answer, Dr. Gusius.
C.T step up, the voltage drop of bar primary, and as air core, CT secondary is not shorted would damage secondary. Heavy fault current saturation would not damage the C.T., or consumed more life, could refer my publications.....
