You may divide your literature review according to your research's dependent variables. Then segregate them according to their area of origin viz. Local studies or International Studies and then according to their nature viz. Conceptual literature (review paper, excerpts from interviews, conceptual papers) empirical literature (research study). Now chronologically write them in different sections. If you are writing a review for a research study then it is important to mention related objectives, sample, place and relevant findings of the study in the review.
At the end of the chapter research trends and gaps should be highlighted.
Most reputable journals will not accept a review from authors lacking a record of publishing in the relevant subject. Their expectation is that experienced authors will not only summarize and discuss data but provide insight derived from that experience.
