I.m using Blender 3D, because it support Python as a main language. My student somebody choose Unity 3d, because it supported easy to developed VR applications.

It depends on what you want to do, for motion editing, retargeting and other tasks I recommend using Motion Builder as it is the standard tool in any motion capture studio and also uses Python as a main language.
Hi there, I worked on MoCap Data in Unity3D as I needed a 3D game-like environment. Working with its animation part was a bit tricky and also about the coding in C# as some codes are obsolete and you need to find new ways. During the project, I also used Motion Builder because the data was large even for a 3-minute dance animation.
