Hi, I would like to analyse the stability of LCP plate used for femur shaft fracture. I prepared FEM model but I need a preload force which should be used to simulate pressure exerted by the screws. In the first step I assume, that contact between screws and bone is bonded. Now I would like to simulate frictional contact but without these forces it does not make sense. Do you know how big are these forces?

It is very difficult to model the frictional contact, its values are inconsistent and tend to decrease. The decrease in load is caused by bone relaxation. Only the tightening torque and screw head angle affect the resulting preload force of the implant-abutment connection What I am saying is that even a 1-5% angle variation can significantly alter the preload force.
