trying to recreate the thermal development in a tablet Computer poses quite some challenge as you have to consider various sources of heat.
To reconstruct local distributions and varaible sources of heat, you can try to go for power semicopnductors like discrete MOSFETS and use their transfer characteristic to generate a controlled amount of heat in a small, well-defined region.
Larger sources of losses can be emulated using several devices in both, series-and parallel connection.
Using the gate voltage to control the resistance, MOSFETS can be considered rather flat, purely resistive parts and controlling the current in the devices would allow for accurate injection of losses respectively heat.
