Suppose the graphene is mixed with some oxides of some metal in order to develop some catalyst or some new material with specific desire. Then, how can it recognized by available micro-structure techniques like TEM, SEM, FTIR, IR, Raman spectroscopy etc.
For complete characterization, you can use XRD to see the diffraction pattern of your metal oxide and graphene. By electron microscopy you can see the surface morphology, size distribution and the structure. By infrared spectroscopy you can find the chemical bonding. You can see RSC Adv., 2014, 4, 48613.

it totally dependents upon what is the volume fraction of graphene is present in metal matrix. If the volume fraction is high then you can use XRD,Raman.
But by using SEM, you can have more chance to see the presence of graphene in metal matrix as because you have more available area for investigation.
