A researcher has deployed a qualitative approach in the data collection phase of research but has later decided to spice the analysis with some aspect of quantitative analysis. What can such mixing be called? Literature references will be appreciated.
I'd suggest it to be an "embedded design" defined as "in a traditional qualitative or quantitative design, a strand of the other type is added to enhance the overall design" (Schoonenboom and Johnson 2017, https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11577-017-0454-1).

Depending on what was done, it might be a "data-based integration" which covers things like "quantisizing" where you make quantitative statements about your qualitative data, e.g. word histograms, co-occurences. Or stratification by making use of quantitatively defined groups (e.g. income levels, age etc.)

Where the qualitative data collection and analysis is indepth, in such a way that it generates some hypothesis that needs to be tested in the next phase, that would qualify for Grounded theory methodology.
The first thought that come to mind is whether the quantitative data was captured as part of the initial sampling or data capture. If so, then it could be argued as a mixed-methods design, although the analysis was not initially intended.
If this is not the case, then as Alexander has answered - embedded design would be more appropriate.
You do not say anything about where the quantitative data came from. Is it a quantitative analysis of the qualitative data? If so, this called quantizing (or quantizing) the qualitative data.

Some aspect of the qualitative data was analysed quantitatively. So I am not sure it can be classified as a mixed method.
A research study that introduces quantitative aspects only during the analysis phase without collecting any quantitative data is a qualitative research design with some quantitative data analysis (i.e., quantizing qualitative data as David L Morgan pointed out above). It involves collecting and analyzing qualitative data first and then incorporating some form of quantitative analysis during the data analysis phase to provide additional insights or support to the findings from the qualitative data. This is not considered a mixed methods design, as mixed methods research involves collecting and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data in a single study. Here is a helpful read.
