I want to carry out toxicity testing with Ceriodaphnia dubia. I've previously done this in glass beakers, but I have very limited volumes of toxicant solution, so I was hoping I could do this in 12- or 24-well microplates.

Microwell plates used for tissue culture are often surface-treated to improve cell adhesion. The type we have available in the lab states, "Tissue culture treated by vacuum gas plasma", which I'm told puts a charge on the plate surface. Does anyone know whether these plates could be used, or should I avoid them and buy in untreated plates?

Also, can anyone advise on what volume of test solution would work best, or suggest any other hints or tips for small-volume testing?
