Testing a cloud can include the following tests:

1) Hardware Test - to evaluate all the cloud infrastructure is as per designed, delivered and setup e.g. server, storage, tape library, SAN switch, network switch, load balancer, firewall & IPS appliance etc.

2) Stress Test - to evaluate the cloud application can run on extreme conditions e.g. putting different applications on a Virtual Machine (VM) which is already running an application or running a specific cloud application on VM with a smaller size instead of the correct T-Shirt size i.e. large apps on small T-Shirt size

3) Workload Test - to evaluate the cloud application's performance when more workloads are added e.g. increasing transactions or data sets on an adhoc time basis

4) Latency Test - to evaluate the duration sensitivity for a cloud application between an action triggered and its response time

5) Web Browser Test - to evaluate whether a cloud application can support various web browser types e.g. IE, FireFox, Chrome, Safari etc.

6) Functional Test - to evaluate whether an application which is running on cloud delivers its intended business or process functions.  A series of tasks / test cases will be executed manually or automatically (by automated testing software) to evaluate the correct results are derived.

7) Compatibility Test - to evaluate any compatibility issue when the cloud application is running on different hardware, guest OS, Hypervisor platforms, databases etc. configurations,

8) End to End Test - to evaluate end to end result is achieved when user starts accessing the cloud application to complete a transaction cycle.  This include components like end user device, LAN & WAN / Internet connectivity, security, network, server, applications / business logics and database etc.

9) Integration Test - to evaluate whether the various components of a cloud application are connected as intended e.g. integration among cloud portal, orchestrator, VM provisioning, various ITIL / ITSM applications, automated components i.e. server automation, network automation, database & middleware automation etc, usage metering, show back, charge back, reporting etc

10) User Acceptance Test - evaluations involve end users or operational users so that they can sign-off after the testings

Thanks for the clarification question.  I put "security test" as part of "end to end test" because security test cuts across many areas e.g. including cloud portal identity & access management testing, cloudified application security test, VM vFW & VM Anti-Virus / Malware like Trend Micro Deep Security test, hardware & OS hardening test, data at-rest or in-motion encryption test, network security tests, physical DC security test, penetration test, security operation test (for cloud service providers that have SOC i.e. covering security incident & event mgmt), business continuity / disaster recovery test (as part of ISC2 & CSA domain knowledge). Finding some tests execution are more relevant to cloud service providers or an organization is building up its own cloud.  On the other hand, some tests execution are critical to cloud consumers.

The integration testing I referred to in my post above is merely testing various cloud components as hilighted e.g. cloud portal, orchestrator etc components within the cloud system that is going to be deployed.

This integration testing is not referring to different cloud apps testing (cloud-to-cloud apps integration testing) nor cloud & traditional / on-premise apps testing (cloud-to-ground apps integration testing).  These 2 types of cloud integration testing normally is part of cloud integration services provided by some SI in which they can provide charged services like integration assessment & strategy planning, integration development as well as cloud integration management.  Think you can refer more on this type of services from google search.  Wishing you all the best.
