I'm new to abaqus and I would like if anyone can help me or give me some advice about my problem.
I'm modeling impact on aluminium sample, and my model should break because of the force of an impact, but it doesn't. The elements start to deform heavily and the model just won't break.
I am using dynamic explicit step, and I have set element deletation to yes, and also put enhanced hourglass contact.
Can anyone please tell what's wrong?
What kind of damage model are you using?
If you are new, I would recommend taking a working example from the example problems manual to see how to do this.
For plasticity I'm using Johnson's - Cook equation, and for Damage for Ductile metals I'm using Johnson's-Cook damage model.
Then check your results and compare the strains etc. to what you would expect for your material model. It often helps to create a 1-element-model to understand how to tune material parameters.
You need to use XFEM for crack modeling. There are some tutorials in abaqus documentation. You can also find lots fo video tutorial in Youtube that should help you.
