The question is kind of weird, and I know that the mechanism is based on the formation of hydrogen bonds. But! What the exact steps of hybridization? Two separate strands in solution, floating far from each other, finally come together and then: how they align with each other? Why they can't bond to each other partially? What is the limiting step in hybridization (diffusion speed, energy, concentration?) — all this kind of question. I cannot find anything relevant on this topic in papers.
