In future Study on post garduate maybe in IPB, I want to learn about diversity of Bactrocera spp. (Tephritidae), learn how to determine species of Fruit Flies, learn the kind of its Parasitoid on Mangifera Indica. Because I'm very interest to research about that but I have not Books Guide.
Thank you very much has been interest to reply of my question.
I am not in a position to be specific at this stage but the Biocontrol is probably the best. Some Entomopathogenic Nematodes have also been effective on fruit fly. CAB International had been doing quite a work on the insect, please search them. Good luck!
Intresting question. Also doing some work on fruitfly in Sierra Leone. In our case, the first strategy is to monitor population density per crop species and location. Crops targeted include Mango, Citus and Guava. We shall also monitor population at early fruit bearing stage and when fruits are matured or ripe. The monitoring technique we are using is the pherome trap. We shall also be collecting species for identification, though challenged with this. Any way somebody can help with this is important and most welcome.
Potential candidates for management of fruitfly may include bio-control, trapping, sparying with chemicals.
