Lentils were purchased and divided into 5 replicates. Phytic acid content was measured in the five replicates before soaking and after soaking (6 h). A researcher wants to know whether soaking reduces phytic acid content in the lentils?
I would say paired, before and after. especially if there is variability in the before values then you will look more at the fold increase in each replicate that might get muddied by just looking at group means
Thank you. But in case of paired, as per my knowledge the data should come from same lentils. But actually, lentils are different when measuring phytic acid content before and after
oh....... ok. then if it is different lentils in the before and after groups, then I would use unpaired and just consider soaking an experimental treatment.
