By looking at the periodic Table of the chemical-elements; (https://www.khanacademy.org/science/chemistry/periodic-table/copy-of-periodic-table-of-elements/v/periodic-table-introduction), one finds Zn-Ni
elements (or a compound)are classified as metals. Therefore, Zn-Ni can be electroplated at any metallic substrate,i.e., Fe,Cu,Co, and so on in which the substrate material,i.e., metal, has an atomic number closed to the Zi-Ni.
So for instance, Fe element in a form of steel alloy,i.e., a low carbon steel, would be good candidates to be a substrate for Zn-Ni electroplating.
