There is an ever increasing drive towards flexible and on line learning and assessment. However, all the undergraduates that I ever speak to want more tutor contact and yearn for a bygone era of education that they’ve heard about from others. I am interested in people’s views on this apparent paradox between what we think students want and what they seem to actually want and more importantly need. I think the educational model that we apply to post graduate training and CPD should be quite different to that of undergraduate teaching.
I agree that they want more flexibility due to the increase in mobile technology that allows them to learn anywhere and anytime. But that requires more reading and writing in the student-teacher interaction, which sometimes takes more time as messages are not always interpreted correctly and students only do surface reading. As a result, you end up with several posted questions, so you end doing the reading for the students. Definitely, there is need for an orientation program that would prepare students for such flexibility. I have done some initial work on the topic that I hope would of some interests to you:

On another note, international students want more balance in the curriculum in equitably representing the views of the host country but also developing countries to allow for far learning transfer when they return to their home countries. When I was a student, I wanted to:
- competence from the teaching class;
- stimulation by the same teaching class to improve my expressive and scientific skills;
- administrative flexibility on the part of the Universities in which I studied;
- objective exams by the teaching class.
I studied in three different Universities (all Italian) and I rarely found only some of the things listed.
Things have not changed today.
What students really want?
Think different students have different needs / wants at different times in different countries / universities. Some really don't know what they want at all. Think teachers need to probe / evaluate case by case basis to see how best to meet the majority needs within the guidelines and / or resources empowered to them.
I'm also in the "it depends" camp. For younger undergraduate students, especially those who are full time students, it could well be that they expect classes and more day to day interaction. What our resident adviser used to call, "the total educational experience." But for full time working adults, even if undergraduate, I'm pretty sure you'll see a much different set to preferences.

In Serbia, students want team working, verbal argumentation, case studies, brainstorming and amusement in their free time.
There are so many factors about what students want. One factor is the age as undergraduate students are more casual in their study as compared to postgraduate ones. The girl students are more serious as compared to their opposite sex. Seriousness of the students also depends on teaching skills of their tutors.
In some Countries, the majority of students think only about marks and bonuses. They seek to have the diploma with the minimum of efforts and the type of job that has the most salary, ....!!!
The majority of students want a good marks to succeed. Other students really want to understand and make a good foundation to be future teachers/researchers. Other students want to spend time in the university because in our country teaching is free.
Mostly, Some students want to pass without pay any efferts.
My perception is students want to practical based teaching with inspiration of faculties approaches.....
Our students now aday in universities have been using technological devices like mobiles or labtops to read or even learn new things for different networks but the question is they get the right information or they only get confused or even misleadin?

Students should emphasize on Practical work.
Student are wants to find some best skill or ability from him self with help of education. Rev.Pandurang Shastri interpret education as art of teacher to draw out the quality or skill already present in the students. Student also wants to increase his confident by realise his ability to do somethings.
Students want a positive education that stimulates creativity and motivation.
Students like online learning for various reasons: no worry about parking, commuting to the college, flexible in terms of schedule, etc. True that videos are provided for students to help understand topics better as well as online discussions. Some prefer face-to-face type of help which is available to some extent through video chats but is not quite the same as a face-to-face tutor or teacher. I think all online courses should make clear to the students what the scope of that online course is including the limitations and have the students choose to stay with the on-line or enroll in a face-to-face class
Generally student are more interested in the study & career for this they have in their mind a programming plan for what they have to do in their career plan .
On the basic of this they select the areas of their career plan for the education program & select the requisite education school so that they may receive the necessary training & programming plan.
This is my personal opinion
Students want inspirational teaching in their chosen careers that will lead to success.
Students want good experience teachers and anew methods of teaching to understand.
Student are waiting for life oriented education. But we r giving bread oriented education.
A perfect system was there in India for earnings money . There was a predecided business for every one. So students did not have to worry about his bread and involved in life oriented education. They build up their personality without any fear of their breads.
Students should be treated flexibly and motivational together

Student did not get as he really wants from education. People deliver to students without understanding his level. In short students want education for his integrated development.
There are different opinions on the subject. In personal opinion, there are sciences that are easy to handle and master on their own with the help of internet programs, but there are courses that are easier to master with a mix of students and teachers,And access to the laboratories and contact materials and equipment, and the identification of these materials and smell and live the atmosphere of each student's reaction to the experience he is doing, Communicate with close ages and create a competitive atmosphere

At a time when technology and innovations have really taken charge, there exists a gap in communication between students and teachers. All teachers have once been students, and many times they want to help and be more effective. Teaching is not a rosy job. Sometimes you have to confront the difficulties that arise in the learning process.

Practical Training:
The most lacking curriculum in the Arab world and university plans is the practical training of students to come to the working life, they find a big gap between what they learned and what they have to implement it, and shocked by the fact that the university degree is not enough to get a prestigious job, but they will find less educated higher Including a work center.
Many students these days have become sufficiently aware of this, and they start training and work during the study period, and they undertake a greater effort to graduate from university and have both the certificate and the experience.
Research:
The university curriculum depends on the method of providing the information ready, and the student should save it as it is written on the exam paper, and what happens next is to forget it completely; because simply did not participate at any stage of understanding or explain the article, The school professor who was standing in front of them and throw all the information on the board, and the students to transfer and save.
If he needs something he learned at the university he had to look for him from the beginning because he will not mention only excerpts that do not constitute a useful sentence or a complete knowledge. In addition, science develops at a terrifying speed and any information that we have learned at the university is not sure that it will be useful after a year, And therefore can not be relied upon until after research and investigation.
Except that the skill of scientific research teaches the student a lot of important thinking skills such as: research, selection, criticism and arrangement, which will be useful to him greatly in his career.
Life skills:
Teamwork, communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, creative thinking and other phrases that accompany any job application that every person needs to cope with the ever-increasing difficulties of life whether at work or in the family. Even if you start your own business, Need more for those skills.
It is not related to the university branch in which it is taught, but it is an urgent need to be present as a material in all branches of the university to prepare the student to work later ... This brings us to the first point, the fact that the university study, and even secondary theoretical study is far from reality.
enjoyment:
The student assumes that once he completes the secondary stage and enters the university, he will be an outlet for him and some areas for some fun and spend fun times with his friends, or practice some hobbies that he likes ... But he is shocked to the contrary when he sees the pressure of work and lectures that require a lot of study and watch over them ... Tests and Examinations So seasonal that the summer vacation shrinks and almost completely disappear from his life! ... 1- what they expect from their major to give them for a future job/profession
2- what students' parents/friends expect them to be and become
3- they want what is introduced/induced during their education as perspectives, hopes, etc.
4- they want what is introduced/induced by general and specific policies of the (meta) organizations
5- they want what the folk wants as society members
6- they want what their faculties have and want in/for their personal lives
7- ...
quality teaching with practical day today application by some fun activities accompany to motivate in individual interest..........
They want teachers who make class interesting and fun
Students have proactive and exuberant minds; they want a class that is active and can provide a shared responsibility for learning
They want a teacher who wants to help them learn
The teacher has to show a positive attitude to ensuring the child learns what their teaching. It could take more explanation, patience and guidance. The focus should be on the child to learn.
They want teachers who are passionate
Students want a teacher who loves his or her job. They can tell if a teacher doesn’t want to be there with them. Being enthusiastic about teaching and showing they love their subjects can be an exciting factor to students.
They want teachers who can admit their mistakes
Students are very watchful and most times they are attentive to your actions as a teacher. They want to know you are the right person to offer direction in their class. By admitting your mistakes, you prove to them that you are human and honest about who you are.
They want a teacher who doesn’t just lecture
Excessive lecturing can take them away from the essence of the class – teaching. Students want to be taught and not lectured. It shouldn’t be about reading off a PowerPoint. Teachers should try to tell stories or offer examples that will capture their imaginative minds.
Student wants the tricks for facing different problems and skill for earnings money.
Students has expecting Application oriented classes with example with fun such as ppt, virtual model, videos etc...
Students are best judges when we are delivering lecture they check each and every innovative thing's delivered as an examples with students.
I think direct communication with students is much better and gives very good results

Different students have different expectations.
At the end of the day, students want to attend attractive classes which will help them understand what they learn, why and how their future will improve (not at the ecpense student life for sure).
They want a teacher who is respectful
Respect is reciprocal. To earn the respect of the student, students want someone who is approachable, positive and nice.
