The main motivation for joining a team is to easier and quicker achieve defined goals... for example in conducting some research and writing a papers, books, monographs, etc.
Long term team work can be benefitial for each member participating. It can be a way of both getting better knowledge of each others research qualities, but also building a cluster of knowledge between faculty colleagues. Anthony Baidoo

The ability of other researchers to solve a part of research problems can motivate faculty members to work as a team. so that in some cases the ability of some persons to publish a paper in a journal can motivate researchers to include him or her in their teams, especially in countries with low international and ISI research journals!
I think what can motivated faculty members to work as a team is when the opinions or efforts of every member is appreciated.

If the deanship of the Faculty will follow the MBO (managing by objectives) it will reach to the spirit of team in achieving of common gaols
The existing results of team work give the answer. NASA, CERN and many more should guide all of us.
Only by working as a team is it possible to tackle research projects of a certain size. In many cases, the major research topics are of a multiplidisciplinary nature, which will require the participation of researchers from various areas, in which case, without a collaborative approach to research, it is not possible to undertake this task.
