Dear John Mark T. Enhaynes ,

it depends on what is the goal of your research.

You know that

a) the XRF technique gives you access to the elements via their x-ray emission lines, but not to the compounds;

and

b) that low atomic number elements such as H, C, N and O are not 'seen' by XRF.

So primarily via XRF you will get a list of elements starting with Na.

All the conversions to oxides or other compounds containing C, N, and O are based on a priori knowledge about your sample.

So, if you do not know which types of compounds will be in your sample you should not present such results of conversions.
