Hi, I am currently a student and I am doing my dissertation. I collected data from adults with divorced parents (143) and I wanted to see the if having divorced parents affects the anxiety levels, type of interpersonal relationships and quality of life. When I started doing in SPSS the regression analysis, I couldn't go throught with it because my independent variable is a constant (having divorced parents)
Regarding your research question, you may want to consider using multiple regression analysis to test the relationship between your independent variable (having divorced parents) and your three dependent variables (anxiety levels, type of interpersonal relationships, and quality of life). This will allow you to control for other factors that may be impacting the dependent variables. You may also want to consider using a mediation or moderation analysis if you have a hypothesis about how the independent variable impacts the dependent variables (e.g. through a mediator variable or a moderator variable). As for testing the relationship, you can look at the strength and significance of the regression coefficients in the multiple regression analysis to determine the direction and strength of the relationship between the variables.
@AjitSingh thank you for your answer. At first I tried multiple regression analysis but SPSS doesn't let me go throught with it because my iv is a constant. I also tried Manova analysis but I had some problems there as well.
If you are having trouble running multiple regression analysis in SPSS because your independent variable is a constant, it may be that you have not properly coded that variable in your dataset. Make sure that the independent variable is coded as a dichotomous variable (i.e. 0 or 1, where 0 is those who do not have divorced parents and 1 is those who have divorced parents). If you still have issues running multiple regression analysis, you may need to consider other statistical methods such as structural equation modeling or instrumental variable analysis.
@AjitSingh thank you for helping me. I just have one more question. My participants are only with divorced parents so I still have to code it 0,1 where 0 is those with not divorced and 1 is those who have divorced parents?
Why not just doing a chi² test with the data from the 2 groups?

Since all of your participants have divorced parents, you can use a binary variable where divorced parents are represented by a 1 and non-divorced parents are represented by a 0. This variable will serve as your independent variable in your regression analysis.
Nefeli Sachini No. If I understand it well, you have 3 iv's from which you can calculate average and s.d., for the divorced and non-divorced. You can compare both groups of 3 numbers with a chi² test to see if they are significantly different. Probably there are other suitable tests too, but that's what I would try first, not regression in this case.
