I am working on Fe3O4 synthesis. I have followed the co-precipitation route. I got the black precipitation which I presume to be Fe3O4. But, the problem arises when I am  calcining the powders. Even at a low temperature of 200 degree the powder is changing its colour to red. I assume that it is getting oxidised and forming Fe2O3. I want the particles to crystallize. What should be the temperature and atmosphere? Would vacuum atmosphere help?
