There is this topic on whether academics should be paid for reviews and majority agree that they should be given monetary remuneration for their works, which I also agree with. But I want to know how the monetary remuneration should be calculated - based on percentage out of the money collected by the publishers based on quantum merit, pro rata or how?

You are not totally off the point, and yes, I got the impression from another scholar's related question (which I'm aware you commented on already). My deduction from majority of the answers there is that beyond moral issues and what have you, remuneration, especially monetary may be necessary. This I agree with because aside the burdensome approach, the same scholar would also be required to pay to be published probably in the same journal he reviewed for free.
I am not saying here that its the prevalent practice, but that also does not mean the existence and possibility of its practice is foreclosed.
So, my question is actually like a rider to the one already asked and to those who agree that reviewers should be remunerated. Only that I deliberately did not put this question on that post because I do not want to bifurcate the discussion on that post.

How about paying the referee the amount of money per hour that the referee would have got for doing consulting work or private work? Seems fair. After all, that is the lost opportunity. The amount will vary with discipline from law to art.

If all editors supply "certificates of reviewing", then researchers will be able to append these to their CVs, and add the counts to the body of the CVs.
... with emphasis on "all". Elsevier - whatever you think of this greedy publisher - at least offers something similar, at least for some of its journals e.g. Interacting with Computers: the Most Prolific Reviewer of the Year award, including a nice certificate for the wall. But a certificate of reviewing would be something a reviewer can earn already with let''s say 3 reviews a year for at least 2 years in succession. Would be so easy to implement ... and could be very effective (modulo review quality, of course).
