I will be using image processing techniques to predict treatment outcomes to some kind of tumors.
I'm about to design my study, So, I went through many papers and literature that has similar purpose of my project.
The problem is there are no clear standards or protocols to carry-out my study. Many studies have stated it's impossible to do meta-analysis for this question.
How can I decide what I'm going to choose from the spectrum of options out there to make my study comparable and useful as possible?

Your question is quite unclear to me!
I will assume that you want to conduct a meta-analysis (as a type of 2ry research); in fact there is an established well-known meta-analysis methodology, but if your research question did not have multiple identified clinical trials or animal studies (at least 2-3), the meta-analysis will not be applicable. in this case, you can instead run a thorough literature search and try to conduct a literature review!

I want to start my own research.
In order to set my methadology, for example, type of image segmantation.
There is no clear recommendation about this. And each type will lead to different values (up to 30% change).
I don’t know which approch should I adapt, and how could I justfiy my chioce.
