One of the important R&D topics for fuel safety of operating LWRs had been loss of coolant accident (LOCA) and reactivity initiated accident (RIA), which would not lead to gross fuel melting. The R&D trend seems to be generally the same, even after the Fukushima accident that experienced three core meltings.
Do you think this is OK or do you have some topics in mind that you would like to recommend to fuel community?
