Here, I used Cochran formula for measuring sample size?
My Sample Size is 600 respondents. My target population is supermarket customers in Bangladesh.
I have 8 Exogenous, 1 Intervening (Customer Satisfaction) and 1 Endogenous Variable.
Data and insights have been collected from 60 personnel that includes supermarket experts, entrepreneurs and customers through In-depth interview.
What should be my sample size?
I have used SPSS and AMOS for data analysis and measure the effectiveness of customer loyalty programs in Supermarket of Bangladesh.
Hello, I would very much like to help you. Unfortunately, I feel that there are important factors to consider that you have not mentioned. Cochran’s formula is reserved mostly for large populations. In your question, you mentioned 600 people. Is that the number of people in the study population, or is it the number of people who responded to your survey? In any case, there are many calculators are available online, some simple, some more complex. I would advise writing us more about the different variables and the population itself. There are two parts to your query:
1. What sample size would give you estimates of variables you intend to collect/measure with some desired degree of precision at some desired level of confidence? That, I suspect, is where the 600 value came from for your sample. If so, that number sounds reasonable, assuming that you used some sort of probability sampling method.
2. What sample size would support the evaluation of a path model having a total of 10 measured/observed variables?
For the second question, the usual advice has to do with the number of model parameters (for example, path coefficients or links) you are trying to estimate. Guidelines such as 10-20 cases per parameter are pretty common.
It wasn't clear what the subsample of 60 cases was all about, especially if it includes persons other than supermarket consumers, and your target population is that of supermarket consumers. Was this for a qualitative-type inquiry, or for identifying what might work as your 10 chosen variables? If you're trying to evaluate a path model with 10 variables based on an N of 60 cases, I'd say that's most likely too few.
