I was thinking on using the Zanarini Rating Scale for Borderline Personality Disorder (ZAN-BPD) but the self-report version has only 9 items (with dimensions being addressed with only 2 or 3 items) which is probably not methodologically appropriate. Any suggestions?
As a clinician in BHC over 4 decades, a thorough biopsychosocial evaluation yields the data you require. And as far as psychometric tools, the MMPI is adjunctively valuable. Best wishes.

from abstract " A factor analysis of the BSL items suggests the following subscales: 'self-perception', 'affect regulation', 'self-destruction', 'dysphoria', 'loneliness', 'intrusions' and 'hostility'."
You should be able to find concurrence from those factors with the dimensions you are interested in.

Not sure if this is helpful, but here's an overview of all the different BPD inventories that are available. I'm not advocating one over the other, but just like no two people are exactly the same, their personality disorders are likely unique unto themselves as well. One assessment may be better suited for the many variants that may present.

Glad it was useful. Unfortunately I didn't create it and worse, I can't remember where I 'borrowed' it from.if I find the source, I'll send it's citation.
I prefer to use tge mclean bpd sccreening questionaire for inital assesement but always follow up with the patient giving examples to look for patterns or one offs, also it the item was related to signifigant mood or trauma elements
