SmartPLS is an excellent program for structural equational models, however on several occasions it does not save the files well due to compatibility issues. I would like to know if you know of any alternative.
I would consider using a standard program for covariance-based SEM that is stable such as Mplus or AMOS. There are even free SEM programs available that are highly stable/reliable such as lavaan (in R).
Of note, JASP (free) has an SEM module that looks well worth exploring. It is based on the R package lavaan.

You may consider using WarpPLS for Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). You can use the software for free for three months.
