Specifically, I am trying to passivate a thin film of air sensitive nanoparticles and optically characterize them in the NIR region. I am looking for polymers that can be solution processed using spin or dip coating.
I suggest PVA (poly vynil acetate), PVB (poly vynil butyral) and the copolimer EVA (ethylene vynil acetate). They are all soluble both in CH2Cl2 and ethanol and can be easily deposited by spin coating. I used them in the past for inclusion of luminescent down-shifters so I'm sure that for thickness around 1-2 microns they are transparent in the range 350-1300 nm.
